Extending south from San Francisco, on the western side of the San Francisco Bay is a group of 15 suburban communities collectively known as 'the Silicon Valley'. Cradle to the computer industry 'the Valley' is home to computer and software giants such as Oracle, HP, Apple and Sun Microsystems and Internet giants Yahoo and Google.
However, unlike east coast business centers the 'Silicon Valley' has a much more relaxed look and feel. Campbell, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Mountain View, Santa Clara, Saratoga, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto and even San Jose, the largest Silicon Valley, are laid back and 'Californian' in character.
El Camino Real, a 150 year Old Street connecting San Jose and San Francisco is the heart of the 'Silicon Valley'. Along this urban street visitors will find most lodging options in the Valley and all other services including restaurants, banks and stores.
Other major clusters of services and attractions are mainly located in San Jose and in Palo Alto, which is hoe to Stanford University. Major tourist attractions include Paramount's Great America Park and Winchester Mystery House.
